Preparing for big school 3
So the third thing we tackled was school uniform. I know this school year isn't even over yet but I reckoned that very few people would be ordering uniforms right now and we would probably have them delivered with little trauma. We had the uniform list from the school so why not? The items did arrive a lot sooner than the confirmation email said so I think our assumption was probably right. We also thought that it would be an idea to get Baby acquainted with the different items of clothing so that he would be able to change in to and out of things at PE. We had fun going through the pile of clothes and putting name tags on them. Baby is getting very excited about Big School and seeig the school bags, book bags, and uniform items with his name on them- the same items he has seen other kids wearing to school in the morning- has made him even more excited. No doubt we will have more practice sessions over the weeks to come. We decided to leave a while for shoes as we find shoe sizes a little difficult to predict. We did, however, order him a pair of trainers. The uniform specifications are for totally black trainers. I am of the opinion that it is necessary to wear proper sports shoes for sports and I knew that getting totally black, non-lace trainers may not be simple. It wasn't but we found a solution in customisable trainers from a well known sports shoe brand (the one with a tick for a logo). Baby is currently wearing a pair of theirs- he has had 3 pairs of these in successively larger sizes as he loves wearing them- and these last ones were on the way out. So we just the bought the next size up with specifications for black on every customisable parameter so we ended up with a pair of all black trainers. The added bonus- we could have his name sewn on the shoe so we wouldn't have to worry about name tags. They cost the same as his store-bought ones so there was really no added expense and we knew it was a pair that he would love to wear. He saw the picture of the finished design and loved them so fingers crossed they would fit perfectly.
